Paris Part 2

I came accross these stencils last year in November in Paris in the "Rue des Rosiers" (if I remember well...). They were together with a serie of other stencils. My guess is that they are from artiste-ouvrier. Does anyone has more information about them ?

Unabomber

This is a stencil of the sketch (photo below) of the so-called "Unabomber", seen in Barcelona near the Boquería market. For more information about Theodore John Kaczynski, better known as the Unabomber, take a look in Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unabomber

Paris part 1

These are some of the stencils I saw the last time I went to Paris. The first one was in the Jewish quarter. Any hints about the artists ?

More FAILE

I came accross these stencils in a very hip shop in Barcelona in the street "Duc de la Victoria, 8" named "Limited Editions". The two on the left side can also be seen in the same street (see earlier post). There were several other smaller stencils from FAILE in the window and I think you can even get his prints on shirts.

Popeye's girlfriend Olive Oyl

I suppose this should be Olive Oyl which is the girlfriend of Popeye from the comic strips. I first saw the one with one eye closed and then later the other face at the Boquería market in Barcelona. Some time later when I passed there again, the whole body was added. I suppose the symbol that looks like a suitcase down in the right corner is the artist's signature. I have seen it already on other stencil photos in the internet but cannot remember who it is. I suppose the artist is Mr. Case

Hard times for stencil artists in Barcelona

The last days I was walking through the streets of Barcelona, my camera in my bag, and watching out for some stencils. The mayor of Barcelona has introduced the so-called "Ordenanza de medidas para formentar y garantizar la convivencia ciuadadana". In the wider sense, this is a bunch of measures to make life safer and better for all the citizens in Barcelona. Amongst other issues it also forbids to paint graffities and stencils on public walls. So, the last weeks, workers from Barcelona had the task to clean or paint over all graffities and stencils from public walls, and I have to say, they did their job really well. Barcelona has always been full of stencils but now you hardly find one and for artists it is much harder to put a new one.
But I hope you don't feel intimidated by this. Keep up the good work and make our life more interesting !!!!!

Stencils in Köln / Cologne / Colonia

The other day I was visiting friends in Cologne in Germany. Of course, I also had my camera with me and was watching out for stencils. Well, it was a bit disappointing, so the few ones I found are all posted here.
